Sofie Grabol, Christopher Eccleston and Stanley Tucci star in first full trailer for Fortitude

We've been excited about Fortitude for a good, long while. First a star-studded cast made up of Stanley Tucci, Michael Gambon, Sofie Grabol, Christopher Eccleston, Jessica Raine and more were announced back in January. And now, following a brief teaser earlier this month, we've got our hands on the 12-part drama's first full trailer.

Set in the snowy community of Fortitude - dubbed "one of the safest towns on earth" - the drama will chart the fallout of a mysterious murder. Game of Thrones actor Richard Dormer and Tucci will play the Arctic town's sheriff and a detective who are trying to make sense of the violent death.

And for once, Grabol won't be solving any crimes - she'll play the town's Governor whose regeneration plans are scuppered by the murder - while former Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston stars as an English scientist.

Safe House follows Robert (Eccleston) and Katy (Thomason) - a married couple asked by close friend and police officer Mark (Paterson Joseph) to turn their remote guest house into a safe house.
The first 'guests' are a family in fear for their lives, after being violently attacked by a stranger who claims to know them.
18 months previous, Robert was shot trying to protect a star witness due to testify against her gangster husband. Protecting this new family causes the ex-cop to re-examine that terrifying night and soon he uncovers a web of lies.

Jason Merrells (Emmerdale), Nicola Stephenson (Holby City) and Peter Ferdinando (Doctor Who) will also star in the drama, set in the Lake District and inspired by true events.
Safe House - potentially a returnable series for ITV - has been created and written by Michael Crompton (Silent Witness, Kidnap and Ransom). Filming on the series commences today (Monday, October 6).
