The Leftovers, the new drama from Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof, has debuted its second trailer and this time we get a proper look at Christopher Eccleston's involvement.

The HBO series is set in the town of Mapleton three years after a worldwide Rapture which saw two per cent of the global population – roughly 140 million people – disappear without a trace. The former Doctor Who star plays local preacher Matt Jamison who questions the authenticity of the Rapture, given that so many of the departed were no better than those left behind.

Justin Theroux plays the town's police chief Kevin Garvey who struggles to maintain order as residents grapple with their confusion and grief, while government investigations into what happened continue to draw blanks.

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Tom Perotta, the series also stars Liv Tyler, Paterson Joseph and Carrie Coon and kicks off in the US on June 29, although no word yet on when we'll see it here on Sky Atlantic.
